Due to the recent community outbreak of COVID-19 Omicron and the move to a Red Light in the COVID Protection Framework across Aotearoa, it is with heavy hearts that Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival’s special, postponed Summer event has been cancelled.
CEO and Artistic Director Tama Waipara says, “With this already being a moved event, a further postponement is not viable at this time. We support the Government’s efforts to keep our people safe and well, and will continue to plan for our usual festival later in 2022.
“Our sincerest aroha goes out to all our artists, crew, suppliers, ticket holders and community who have backed us since our inception in 2019. We look forward to returning later in the year with the full might of our creative abundance in Tūranga-nui-ā-Kiwa and the wider Te Tairāwhiti region.”
The cancelled events are:
- La Vie En Rose
- Hīhi – A Song of Place
- Deva Mahal
- Louis Baker
- Anna Coddington and Julia Deans
- All That Glitters is Gizzy
- Homecoming Queens
- Dragons Diva Den
- Black Sea Golden Ladder with Troy Kingi and Delaney Davidson
- The F Word with Tami Neilson
- Sunshine Soul Sessions
All tickets will be refunded or able to be donated. Ticket holders will be contacted directly by iTicket however due to the high volume of event changes across the country at the moment, this process may be slower than usual.
The annual, proudly local arts festival will return to its usual spot later in the year. The full programme will be announced mid-year.
