Toi Ake as a collective is built on the foundations of Mātauranga Māori.

Their practice is informed by tohunga and pūkenga who guide and observe the mahi that they do. The Gallery plays a vital role in our local creative ecology and their creative and collective voice in the space of our arts sector is an important one.

The collective say their Gallery is an ongoing expression of the continuum of Ngā Toi Māori that brings the knowledge of their tupuna into a modern and evolving context. Visit them at Ballance Street Village to see what they’re all about.

  • Open Monday – Friday 10am – 5pm
  • Closed on weekends during the festival.
