To celebrate the season of Matariki, Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival and Rongowhakaata Iwi Trust will be hosting a planting and birdwatching workshop at Te Wherowhero Lagoon. Get outside with your friends and whānau to celebrate Matariki – we will be planting native trees and shrubs to restore the whenua.

A fantastic day for the whole whānau to learn more about the taiao and the importance of the Matariki Season for planting and animals. All ages are welcome.

Access through Browns Beach Road off State Highway 2 – signage will direct you to the meeting spot.

What to bring:

  • sturdy covered shoes
  • weather protection (sun or rain)
  • snacks
  • a bottle of water
  • gloves (if you have them).

Please leave your pets at home.
