Due to the recent community outbreak of COVID-19 Omicron and the move to a Red Light COVID protection framework across Aotearoa, it is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the cancellation of the February offering of Te Tairawhiti Arts Festival.

Winner of Best Roots Album and Best Māori Artist (2019 VNZMAs), Troy Kingi returns with the fifth, “folk” instalment, in his 1O, 1O, 1O, Series – 10 albums in 10 genres in 10 years – with the album Black Sea Golden Ladder.

A collaboration with award winning artist and producer Delaney Davidson, the album was written and recorded as part of the Matairangi Mahi Toi Artist Residency in Wellington. Black Sea Golden Ladder finds Kingi embracing a folk musical palette and considering birth, school, love, sleep, work, death, the cycles and stages of life. He says “It is the most personal of all my albums – the first one I feel that is truly about me.”

Don’t miss these two incomparable artists together on stage!
